The Regulation (EU) 2018/848 on organic production and labelling of organic products is the framework standard that regulates organic production in the European Union. It replaced the previous Regulation (EC) 834/2007 and came into force on January 1, 2022, establishing stricter requirements to ensure the integrity, traceability, and transparency of organic products at all stages of the production chain.
This regulation, developed with the participation of Member States, producer organizations, control bodies, and key stakeholders in the sector, unifies criteria to guarantee consumer trust and promote environmental sustainability, biodiversity, and responsible farming practices.
Through auditing and certification under Regulation (EU) 2018/848, companies can demonstrate that their products meet the most demanding European organic standards, enabling their marketing within EU Member States and strengthening their positioning in the international market.
